VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (February 1, 2018) – The SUNY Delhi men's basketball team rose to 13th in the seventh and most recent edition of the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) Coaches' Poll, earning 229 points. The Broncos, now 15-12, have won five of their last seven games, and moved up in the poll after being ranked 14th the last three weeks.
Head coach Zack Thomsen's team recently posted a 91-60 win over Davis in their home season finale on Tuesday. The Broncos also defeated SUNY Cobleskill, 69-57, last Wednesday, giving them a 6-1 record this season against NCAA Division III opponents. Delhi enters its final three regular season games looking to qualify for the USCAA National Tournament at Penn State Fayette. The championship will field ten teams, with the Broncos eligible to earn one of the six at-large bids.
Berkeley NY, who Delhi defeated earlier this year for its lone loss this season, reclaimed the top spot in the rankings with 299 points. Villa Maria dropped to number two with 294 points, while NHTI, Central Penn and Penn State Brandywine were all tied for third with 276 points.
The Broncos conclude their regular season on the road, starting with Alfred State on Feb. 10, Villa Maria Feb. 11 and SUNY ESF on Feb. 13. Delhi will then return to Villa Maria for the NIAC Tournament on Feb. 23.
