QUEENSBURY, N.Y. (July 13, 2017) – At the conclusion of the first-ever American Collegiate Athletic Association (ACAA) Tournament in May, the conference unveiled its all-tournament team. Freshman infielder Sierra Becht (Otego, NY / Unatego HS) earned a spot on the ten-player squad.
SUNY Canton hosted the league championship, with Finlandia winning the double-elimination competition. Finlandia third baseman Kassy Avila was named the tournament’s MVP.
Becht, a native of Otego, N.Y., finished 4-for-7 in SUNY Delhi’s two tournament games. She went 2-for-3 in the opening contest to Finlandia, a 9-3 defeat, and hit 2-for-4 in the elimination game versus SUNY Canton, a 3-2 loss. Becht finished her freshman campaign with a .392 batting average (29-for-74) and had the highest slugging percentage on the team at .649. She had four home runs on the year, with three of them coming in a doubleheader sweep of Clinton Community College, 15-0 and 17-0, on May 4. Becht totaled five doubles and one triple, while raking in a team-high 21 RBIs.
