DELHI, N.Y. – Miranda Cole and Salvatore Meloni were named the 2026 SUNY Delhi Female and Male Athlete of the Year recipients, the athletic department announced Wednesday.
Cole capped one of the most decorated individual seasons in program history with a third-place finish in the 200 meters at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships in La Crosse, Wisconsin, earning First Team All-America honors. She added Second Team All-America accolades as part of Delhi’s 4x400 meter relay, which placed 11th nationally. Over the course of the indoor and outdoor seasons, Cole rewrote the Delhi record book, setting new school records in the indoor 200 meters, indoor 300 meters, indoor 4x200 meter relay, indoor 4x400 meter relay, outdoor 200 meters, outdoor 400 meters, and outdoor 4x400 meter relay. Her outdoor 200 meter mark also broke the SUNYAC conference record. She additionally helped set the NCAA Division III all-time record in the sprint medley relay at the Penn Relays alongside Shaesha Johnson, Zoe Rodi, and Amanda Intrieri.
Meloni anchored the Delhi men’s soccer back line on the program’s run to the North Atlantic Conference championship and an appearance in the first round of the NCAA Tournament, where the Broncos fell 1-0 in a double-overtime thriller at Cortland. Named the 2025 NAC Defensive Player of the Year, Meloni posted a 0.97 goals-against average and made 68 saves across 1,394 minutes of work, recording five shutouts on the season. His campaign included a string of shutouts and one-goal performances down the stretch, including a 2-0 win at SUNY Cobleskill, a 2-1 win at Husson, and a 3-2 double-overtime victory at Thomas in the NAC Tournament. Meloni allowed just one goal in NAC regular-season play.
