Castine, ME - The SUNY Delhi lacrosse team's championship aspirations were underway Saturday with a semifinal matchup against the Terriers of Thomas. Both teams had faced each other earlier in the season, with the Broncos emerging victorious over the Terriers.
It would be all Delhi from start to finish, as the Broncos wasted no time getting on the scoresheet. In fitting fashion, Delhi's leading goal scorer, Chris Lazazzaro, would open the scoring, giving the Broncos the early 1-0 lead. Less than a minute later, Jagger Beachak would add his first of three goals on the day. Benjamin Moscatiello would also record two opening quarter goals, earning him Delhi's program record in career goals. Delhi's dominance would continue for the remainder of the half, leading at the break by a score of 12-3. The Broncos would ride that momentum in the second half as they continued to assert their dominance over the Terriers. Joseph Lazazzaro would take control of the third quarter in which he collected three of his four goals. Anthony Ferrato would finish 20-22 on faceoffs, while Jayden Messina recorded 10 saves. In the end, Delhi would cruise to a commanding 19-6 victory and advance to the NAC Championship. The Broncos will be back in action tomorrow at 3 pm to take on Maine Maritime.
