More Records Fall As Broncos Compete at Regionals

Cortland, NY - The Delhi track and field teams traveled to SUNY Cortland for the All-Atlantic Regional Track and Field Conference (AARTFC) Championships in a field of more than 60 schools.  The meet was highlighted by multiple school records and many strong performances.

On the women's side, Zoe Rodi provided the fireworks, running a huge lifetime best in the 400 meter dash and lowered her own school record with a time of 57.53 seconds.  The time drops the Delhi program record by another full second and was good for 12th place in the AARTFC Championships overall.

On the men's side, the 4x100 meter relay team that set the program record last week at West Point took another shot at it and deliviered.  They posted a time of 40.91 seconds to shatter the record and the quartet has dropped over 1.2 seconds off the school record in the last two weeks.  The team of Deron Davis, Joshua Jeffes, Cristhian Cuevas and Dayzin Legare won the race handily to took the AARTFC title in the event for the first time in program history.  Jeffes also collected another win for the Broncos when he came from behind on the final straightaway to win the individual 400 meter dash with a time of 47.15.  Legare and John Amenta also scored points in the meet with a pair of runner-up finishes.  Legare placed second in the 100 meter dash with a time of 10.77 seconds and Amenta worked his way through a large field to take second in the 5,000 meters with a time of 14:42.66.  Amenta's time moves him up to the number three time in program history.  The final points scored came from Jeffes in the 200 meter where he placed fourth with a time of 21.62.

The men's team scored a total of 41 points, which was good for a sixth place finish in the Championships.  Now the athletes will wait to see the final declarations for the NCAA Championships to be held next weekend in Myrtle Beach, SC.
