Myrtle Beach, SC - Joshua Jeffes completed his incredible Delhi career on Saturday at the NCAA Track and Field Championships with his highest finish ever and his third All-American honor.
Jeffes, who became the first ever NCAA All-American in Delhi history back in 2022, has had a storied career as a Bronco. In addition to his 2022 honor for his eighth place finish, he added a seventh place finish this winter indoors and now has a fifth place finish in his final race in a Delhi uniform.
Jeffes advanced to Saturday's final with his 47.11 semifinal run, which was the second fastest time of the day, taking second in the heat to the eventual champion Eric Gregory from Galludet. Jeffes entered the final in lane three and ran from behind down the back stretch. Through the final turn, he started passing runners and on the straight looked to move up to as high as third place. In the last 20 meters, all the runners started to tighten up and the finish was very tight. When the times came through, Jeffes was in fifth with a time of 47.32 seconds.
Jeffes completes his career a three-time All-American, all at the 400 meter distance. He also holds the Delhi program records in seven individual events and two relays, capping off what is one of the greatest Delhi careers in history. He was named the SUNY Delhi Athlete of the Year two times. This will wrap up Delhi athletics for the 2023-2024 school year as the college will look forward to the fall!
