DELHI, N.Y. — SUNY Delhi men’s lacrosse head coach Sam Miller has announced his decision to step away from the program, the athletics department announced. The search for his successor will open immediately.
Miller leaves the program after 10 seasons at the helm with a career record of 72-63, having taken over as interim head coach in January 2017 before being officially appointed to the position in the summer of 2018. A SUNY Brockport graduate and former student-athlete, he guided the Broncos through one of the most significant chapters in program history, overseeing Delhi’s transition from the NAIA into NCAA Division III and the program’s entry into the North Atlantic Conference.
The Broncos’ first official Division III season in 2019 produced an 11-6 record, a 5-1 mark in the NAC, a NAC/NECC Tournament berth, and eight All-Conference selections. Miller’s tenure included steady program development through the pandemic-affected 2020 and 2021 seasons, and most recently a 2026 campaign that saw the Broncos reach the NAC Tournament semifinals behind program-record-setting performances by multiple student-athletes.
“Sam Miller has not only done a terrific job with our men’s lacrosse program over the last 10 years, but has made himself a critical member of the campus community as a whole,” Director of Athletics Robert Munro said. “He has done great work in the department, across campus and in the community. We appreciate all his service, commitment and dedication to the institution. Sam will forever be a Bronco!”
The search for the program’s next head coach will begin immediately.
