DELHI, N.Y. - Noah Taylor scored six goals as Morrisville (2-1) beat the Delhi Broncos Lacrosse (1-3) team in a double overtime thriller at Neil Riddell Field Friday night.
It was a tightly contested affair that saw six lead changes, with a man-down goal by Broncos senior Jagger Beachak kicking off the teams trading goals until Taylor followed up a Jason Tedeschi goal to give Morrisville their first lead of the game at 4-3, which they carried into the second period.
Beachak once again opened scoring in the second before the Mustangs responded with a pair of scores, and the Broncos answered with two of their own. Tedeschi fired in an unassisted score with 2:23 remaining to give the visitors a 7-6 lead heading into the half.
Taylor scored two goals in 39 seconds to extend the Morrisville lead to three before Jesse Hagen, Shane Von Kampen, Chris Lazazzaro, and Beachek goals climbed the Broncos all the way back to a 10-9 advantage. Taylor capitalized on a man-up opportunity with 1:49 to go in the period, equalizing the game as it headed into the fourth frame.
Anthony McLaughlin scored off a Chris Lazazzaro assist to give the Broncos the edge three minutes in, but Kyan Dohn netted a pair of unassisted scores to swing the lead back in favor of the Mustangs. Beachak scored with 6:32 to play before Benjamin Zeh added another nine seconds later, giving Delhi what would be their final lead of the day as Mitchell Shurtleff found the back of the net for the first timeof the contest to force overtime.
The first overtime period came and went as both sides had glimpses, but were unable to put anything on the board. A Delhi penalty in the second period of overtime gave the Mustangs the man-up advantage, and Daniel Squires converted for his second goal as Morrisville walked it off.
Dohn tallied three goals and three assists to compliment Taylor's six scores, as the pair accounted for 11 of the Mustang's 18 points. Beachak netted five goals and picked up an assist, and Anthony McLaughlin scored two and and recorded two assists. Blake Dunton picked up the win in net, turning away 12 shots and allowing 13 goals in 66:10 of action. Jayden Messina let in 14 goals while turning away 11 for Delhi.
The Broncos are scheduled to take on Mt. St. Vincent on March 18th, giving them 12 days to rest and recouperate.
