WATERVILLE, Maine — Chris Lazazzaro reached 100 career goals and 100 career ground balls Saturday, finishing with five goals and three assists to lead SUNY Delhi past Thomas College (ME), 17-10, in North Atlantic Conference men's lacrosse action at Thomas College.
Lazazzaro's milestone performance anchored an offense that erupted for eight goals in the third quarter to blow the game open. Delhi (5-7, 2-2 NAC) led 7-2 at halftime before outscoring the Terriers 8-3 in the third period, pushing the margin to 15-5 and putting the contest out of reach.
Anthony McLaughlin added four goals and an assist, while Jagger Beachak contributed a goal and three assists. John Batelic scored twice, including a man-down goal in the second quarter, and Kyle Moore collected a goal and three helpers. Goalkeeper Jayden Messina made 10 saves in net to earn the victory.
Thomas (7-7, 2-3 NAC) outshot Delhi 42-38, won the ground ball battle 30-28, and controlled faceoffs 20-9, but could not convert consistently enough against Messina. Connor Hamilton led the Terriers with four goals and two assists.
Delhi returns to action Thursday, hosting Anna Maria for their Senior Recognition Night.
