Softball Secures First Conference Win with Game One Victory to Open Weekend Action

Johnson, VT - The SUNY Delhi softball team was back in action Saturday afternoon for a decisive conference contest against the Badgers of Johnson. It would be a battle of familiar faces, with both sides having gone head-to-head earlier in the season that saw the Broncos getting the best of the Badgers. Johnson entered play with a 1-4 conference record, as Delhi remained in search of their first conference victory.

In game one of the weekend, it would be a pitching clinic between senior Danielle Seymour and first-year Hannah Corvinno. The contest would remain scoreless following the first two frames, which saw just two total hits. The Broncos would break the tie in the top of the third inning as Seymour would help her case at the plate with an RBI single, scoring senior Sidney Cooper. The battle on the bump would continue with neither side scoring a run until the final inning of play. Sophomores Carolina Watson and Angelina Dickel supplied the Broncos with some breathing room, as Watson plated two with a triple followed by a two-run double by Dickel. Seymour would take care of the rest, recording the complete game shutout and collecting 8 strikeouts to earn the 5-0 victory.

The Broncos improve to 8-15, 1-4 in conference play, and will run it back tomorrow, taking on the Badgers in some more conference action.
