FARMINGTON, Maine — The SUNY Delhi softball team dropped both ends of a non-conference doubleheader at Maine Farmington on Saturday, falling 9-0 in game one and 8-2 in game two.
Game One: Me.-Farmington 9, SUNY Delhi 0
Delhi managed four hits but couldn't push a run across, as Farmington's offense stayed quiet through three innings before breaking the game open in the fourth. The Beavers scored four in the fourth on a Lisa Truchin RBI single, a Bella Miller two-RBI triple, and an Ava Paglianite RBI single, then added two more in the fifth and three in the sixth, capped by a Jessica Dow three-run homer, to pull away. Mikayla Wright started and took the loss. Grace Sperry went 2-for-3 to pace Delhi offensively.
Game Two: Me.-Farmington 8, SUNY Delhi 2
Delhi grabbed a 2-0 lead in the first when Sperry doubled to left field to score Stephanie Huckabee and Samantha Martin, but Farmington answered with a five-run third inning that included a Dow two-run homer and a Lisa Truchin two-run home run. The Beavers added single runs in the fourth, fifth, and sixth to put the game out of reach. Angelina Dickel started and took the loss.
Delhi falls to 5-12 on the season and returns to action Tuesday for a doubleheader at Morrisville, with first pitch set for 2:00 p.m.
