POTSDAM, N.Y. — The SUNY Delhi softball team earned a non-conference split at SUNY Potsdam on Tuesday, falling 9-1 in game one before Angelina Dickel's sixth-inning grand slam powered a 6-3 comeback win in the nightcap.

Game One: SUNY Potsdam 9, SUNY Delhi 1 (5 innings)

Potsdam set the tone early with a three-run first, punctuated by a Maddalyn Wasserman two-RBI double to right center. Delhi got on the board in the third when Samantha Martin singled to left center to score Adrienne Neff, but Potsdam answered immediately with a three-run bottom half that included a Payton St. Clair solo homer. The Bears added two more in the fourth on a Sam Horne two-RBI single and plated their ninth run in the fifth before the run rule ended the contest. Mikayla Wright took the loss, with Angelina Dickel tossing 1.2 innings in relief. Cayla Moroni went 2-for-2 to pace Delhi, and Neff, Stephanie Huckabee, Carly Bernard, and Ayla Ramic each added a hit.

Game Two: SUNY Delhi 6, SUNY Potsdam 3

Alethea Ferrara went the distance in the circle for Delhi, scattering eight hits over seven innings and allowing just two earned runs to pick up her second win of the season. Delhi struck first in the third when Moroni doubled to center to score Dickel, but Potsdam answered in the bottom half on an Emily Birmingham sacrifice fly and took a 3-1 lead in the fifth behind RBI singles from Alexys Rosick and Birmingham. The Broncos responded in a big way in the sixth, as Bernard, Jaden Taylor, and Julian Ponce loaded the bases before Carolina Watson singled to left to score Bernard and cut the lead to 3-2. Dickel followed with a grand slam to left field to put Delhi ahead 6-3, and Ferrara slammed the door over the final frame and a half. Dickel finished 3-for-3 with the home run and four RBI, while Moroni added two hits and Bernard went 2-for-4.

Delhi moves to 8-16 on the season and returns to action Friday at home against Husson.
